Party Wall Award acting for a well known retailer adjacent to a very large development in Chelsea, London
Acting for an Adjoining Owner who are an extremely busy and well known retailer where works proposed are a deep basement immediately adjacent to the Adjoining Owner’s store.
Works include insertion of sheet piling, temporary lateral support and mass excavation to then allow formation of the new basement structure and permanent lateral restriant. Careful consideration needed to be given to numerous details including obstructions in the ground whilst piling, deviation of piles, soil type affecting insertion of piles, surcharge loading from Adjoining Owner’s building, ground water levels during excavation, changing weather conditions, type and sequence of propping, means of recording vibration and movement and threshold levels for any necessary action, review of permanent structure, period of risk, historic unexploded Ordnance checks which might be located on the site and cause problems during excavations.
